Water Color & Odor Issues
Posted on Aug 6th, 2015

Many residents have been contacting the City recently regarding water color and odor issues.  Areas in Round Rock have been experiencing unusual color and odor/taste in our drinking water due the presence of manganese caused the heavy rains that filled the lakes recently. While these issues are unpleasant, they do not pose a health hazard.  We monitor the water in our system closely and test results indicate the water is safe to drink.  The same discoloration issue occurred in early July. As temperatures are now consistently reaching 100 degrees and Citywide water usage is high, this issue could continue off and on throughout the summer.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  Please feel free to share this information with your residents.
 Thank you,
