Christmas Tree Recycling

Residents of the city of Round Rock can recycle their Christmas trees on Saturday, December 31st and Saturday, January 7th, from 9am to 6pm. Trees can be recycled at the Round Rock Brush Recycling Center located at 310 Deepwood Drive. Residents are asked to remove decorations, nails, wires, ornaments, tree stands, lights, and tinsel before bringing in their tree. The trees will be shredded into a fine, usable mulch which is free to Round Rock residents for pickup at the recycling center. The mulch can also be purchased by contractors and non-residents for $5 per cubic yard.

Annual Holiday Party

The Behrens Ranch Annual Holiday Party is Sunday, December 4th from 2-5pm at the Resident’s Center. Santa will be there for pictures from 2:30 to 4:30. There will also be refreshments and crafts for the kids!

Thanksgiving Trash Pickup Schedule

For the Thanksgiving holiday, residential solid waste pick up will slide back a day. If your regular garbage and/or recycling pickup day is Thursday, it will slide to Friday. If your regular pickup day is Friday, it will slide to Saturday. Questions, call Round Rock Refuse at 512-255-4980.

City Council Approves Once-A-Week Watering Schedule

The Round Rock City Council unanimously approved Thursday, November 10th, an amendment to the Drought Management Plan that now includes mandatory once-a-week watering. The Stage II (b) once-a-week schedule allows residential customers with odd-numbered addresses to water on Saturday, residential customers with even-numbered addresses to water on Sunday. Watering hours are between midnight and 10 a.m. and between 7 p.m. and midnight on the designated watering day.

Nationwide EAS Test

On Wednesday, November 9th at 1pm Central Standard Time, the FCC will conduct its first nationwide test of the Emergency Broadcast System (EAS). The purpose of the test is to assess the reliability and effectiveness of the system in alerting the public. Local and and state components are tested weekly and monthly, but there has never been an end-to-end nationwide test of the system. Wednesday’s alert will be transmitted throughout the country and will be monitored by EAS participants. The participants will then report the results of the test to the FCC. The test will involve only those communications service providers that participate in the EAS. It will not include mobile communications devices.

City Approves Once-A-Week Watering Schedule

The Round Rock City Council unanimously approved Thursday, October 27th, an amendment to the Drought Management Plan that expands Stage II restrictions to include mandatory once-a-week watering.

The new schedule will not go into effect until a required second reading vote on November 10th, but City officials are urging customers to begin following the schedule now because of the extended drought and because the intake at Lake Stillhouse Hollow was just declared operational by the Brazos River Authority (BRA).

The once-a-week schedule allows residential customers with odd-numbered addresses to water on Saturday, residential customers with even-numbered addresses to water on Sunday, and commercial and multi-family customers to water on Friday. For more information, visit www.roundrocktexas.gov.

Special Meeting to Review Proposed Wag-A-Bag Construction

The Behrens Ranch Board of Directors have scheduled a meeting to provide information regarding the zoning request for the southwest corner of Wyoming Springs and FM 3406. The meeting is for all interested Behrens Ranch residents and will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the Amenity Center. Items to be discussed include (1) future transportation plans for Wyoming Springs, (2) the general land use plan of the city, (3) the site plans for the subject property (as provided by Wag-a-Bag), and (4) the process to address the issue.

All Outdoor Watering Now Prohibited

Due to a mechanical failure of a pump at Lake Stillhouse Hollow, which pumps water into Lake Georgetown, the city of Round Rock has been forced to enact emergency water restrictions, effective immediately. The most immediate impact is that all outdoor watering is prohibited. This includes: foundation watering, using permanently installed irrigation systems, hose end irrigation, drip irrigation, and hand watering with a hose.

“This is an extremely urgent situation,” Mayor Alan McGraw said. “A brown lawn is nothing compared to the consequences of running out of water.”

Homeowners Meeting is October 12th

Our annual meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 12th, at 6pm at the Behrens Ranch Amenity Center. Registration begins at 5:30pm. The Board will share this past year’s accomplishments, provide a finance review and next year’s budget, and hold an elelction for one (1) member to the Board of Directors.

Behrens Ranch Garage Sale October 1st

The Semi-Annual Behrens Ranch Neighborhood Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, October 1st. Start time is 7am.

There will be ads posted in the Austin American Statesman and on Craigslist advertising the sale, as well as signs posted around the neighborhood. Please contact the events committee if you have any questions.
