Behrens Ranch will have it’s 1st ever neighborhood CHILI COOK-OFF during the Halloween Festival on Saturday, October 29th (5:00-7:00pm) at the Residents Center. If you’d like to be a contestant and enter your homemade chili in the contest, please email events-committee@behrensranch.org

All chili will need to be cooked at home and brought to the Residents Center at 4:30pm. Please bring your chili in a crockpot so you can keep it warm during the contest. Sampling cups for tasters will be provided. The entire neighborhood is encouraged to come taste and judge who has the BEST CHILI in Behrens Ranch.

After tasting the chili, come enjoy the rest of the Halloween Festival. We’ll have a moonbounce for the kids, bubbles, a hay ride for everyone, a band playing music, as well as food provided for adults & kids! And don’t forget to come dressed in your costumes! See you there!

It’s time for the 2^nd Behren’s Ranch Amazing Race!  Last year, our teams were very competitive and had a lot of fun.  This year, by popular request, teams will be made up of 2 participants, one of which must be an adult, allowing parents to compete with older children.  Of course the teams can still be 2 adults!  There will not be age categories and all teams will be competing on the same level.

The race will take place on Saturday, May 21, at the Amenity Center.  The start will be 10 am.  Each team may choose their mode of transportation (bicycles, vehicle, etc.) keeping in mind your teams abilities.  Sign your team up at behrensrace@behrensranch.org.  Please include both teammates names and a contact e-mail address.  Sign up by Thursday, May 19.

At the race’s finish line we will have a post-race celebration for teams and their families and the prizes will be awarded.

What is this, you ask…?

Well… it is a chance for the adults in the neighborhood to have an activity, make that an awesomely fun activity, since most of the neighborhood events are geared toward the kids! The race will take place on Saturday, May 22, 1 pm start time. Racers will meet at the Amenity Center prior to the start.

We are looking for at least 10 teams of 2 to take on the BR Amazing Race. Top 3 finishers will receive prizes. For those who watch the Amazing Race, we must apologize… there will be no bungy jumps, sky diving, scaling buildings, or the like (sorry). What we will have is a series of clues and activities sending your team around the neighborhood, competing for that first place prize (not a million dollars, but still pretty cool).

Competitors must be at least 18, sign up in teams of 2. Get your neighbors to sign up as well, friendly competition is good for the soul! Don’t want to compete but still want to be involved? Great! Volunteer as a station monitor and watch the competition from the front lines, or maybe even host a station at your home (will be outside only!).

The entire race will take place in Behrens Ranch. Teams can choose to drive, ride bikes, or whatever they like, keeping in mind there will be advantages and disadvantages (i.e. legally parking a vehicle may put you further away from a clue or task ). Water stations will be found along the course, but carrying some along would be good too!

The Behrens Ranch Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place this year on Sunday, April  5th at 3pm sharp at the Amenity Center.
Please make sure to drop off a dozen filled plastic eggs (no chocolate please as it melts) per child prior to the event. Label each bag of eggs with your child’s age, as we willl have different age group locations.

YOU MUST DONATE EGGS IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE!

Behrens Ranch will be having a neighborhood garage sale on Saturday, March 28th with a start time of 7am. Ads will be placed in the Austin American Statesman and on Craigslist, and signs will be up at the front of the neighborhood the week of the sale. So get your items ready to sell, or get ready to shop!

Why: If you have or will have an elementary age child in the next school year, you should attend this meeting.

An official Boundary Hearing presided over by the RRISD Citizen’s Boundary Committee is scheduled for March 5 at 7 p.m. in the Cactus Ranch Elementary (2901 Goldenoak Circle, Round Rock) cafeteria. The Citizen’s Boundary Committee will solicit input regarding the four proposals which the board would like to pursue and made a recommendation to the board in April. Public input is also welcomed at the March 2009 regular board meeting where the board will discuss feedback from this hearing.

Important agenda items will include the election of five residents to the Advisory Committee, an officer report, and review of finances. Members of the Board are scheduled to be in attendance along with current Advisory Committee Members and sub-committees.

If you are unable to attend this meeting, please fill out a proxy form (sent to you via US mail) and give it to a trusted neighbor that is planning to attend to vote on your behalf.

For those residents that have not picked up their new pool/amenity card yet, please bring your current card to the meeting. Certified Management will be exchanging keys after the meeting.

Neighborhood Meeting – Wednesday, March 26th from 7pm-9pm at the Amenity Center

The Advisory Committee would like for as many Neighbors as possible to join us for a neighborhood meeting on at the amenity center Wednesday, March 26th from 7pm-9pm at the Amenity Center.

The Advisory Committee and the sub-committees will be there to provide the neighborhood an update on the progress of the items we are working on to improve our neighborhood. We will also be there to answer questions and hear your comments and feedback.
