***ATTENTION HOMEOWNERS***
OUR MONEY IS GOING DOWN THE DRAIN
In an attempt to enhance the appearance of the pool and the Amenity Center, the HOA has made several improvements. The most recent is the replacement of the mismatched pool furniture, providing a uniform design appearance for the pool. The cost of the additional furniture was $5472.04. Within two days of delivery, two of the new dining chairs were damaged by persons at the pool by stacking them into a “fort”, costing us $600.
In addition to the furniture, other damage has already occurred this season.
1. The hand held shower heads in each bathroom have been used to spray the walls, soaking them to the point where the thin plaster layer was pulled off in chunks. The sheet rock will have to be torn out and replaced, at probably close to $1000. The showers are constantly left running increasing the water bill for the Amenity Center.
2. The lock at the gate to the pool continues to be damaged by individuals using house/car keys and other items to pry open the lock rather than using the electric key pad located at the gate.
3. The underwater lights have been pulled from their anchor (more than once). The cost thus far has been $575.
4. On May 6, 2008 all the walls in the mens bathroom were painted with graffiti (black shoe polish). Cleaning the walls cost $60, and will likely cost us about $250 more to have the walls repainted.
Damages such as these have a direct impact on your pocketbook. Instead of being able to plan for expanded amenities, the HOA board has to spend homeowners’ dues to repair or replace the few amenities which we currently have, delaying the expansion.
The Advisory Committee is committed to addressing vandalism within our community. As those responsible for the damage are identified, the Advisory Committee will pursue all opportunities to recover the expense from the individual responsible. However, each of us can help ensure that the damage does not happen in the first place by responsibly using the amenities and by urging responsible use by others. All our residents are paying for this damage instead of the individuals who cause it. We need you to help us change that.
