What happened?
Your bookmarks haven’t changed and it’s likely you typed the URL correctly. Even though Behrensranch.org is just over one year old, we decided to give it a bit of a facelift.
The “back end” software being used to publish this page is somewhat different than before, so we should have the ability to do a few more things.
Here are a few new features:
- New colors – The old format was fine, but it was over a year old and less colorful than this format.
- Events Calendar – In the “left nav,” (geek-speak for “left navigation” menu) you will find an events calendar with the next three neighborhood events. Keep watching — we’ll be adding more. [UPDATE: Experiencing a few bugs with the Event calendar. You can go to the main Event Calendar (follow the "See More" link), but the individual links seem to be a bit broken.]
- Searching – As this site posts more articles, it might be harder to “eyeball” information you were looking for. The search box in the “left nav” should help you.
- Committee Pages – Every committee now has their own page to do their own thing. In the future, you can look to these pages for the latest committee news.
- More Frequent Updates – Many of the news stories you read in the newsletter will start appearing here first.
A few anticipated FAQs (frequently asked questions):
- Question: Is all the old content on this new site? Yes. All of the old posts have been moved to this new format. You can now search them with the box in the left navigation bar.
- Question: Is Mike still the webmaster? Yes. I’m still maintaining and (occasionally) writing content on the website. However, I will be glad to accept any help someone is willing to give me. You don’t necessarily have to be technical.
- Question: Are the forums affected? No. The forums will look more like the main page, but the functionality will remain the same.
- Question: Is the underlying technology any different? Yes (somewhat). We’ve moved the publishing software from a third party to our site. That way, our Advisory Committee and Newsletter folks can post directly from behrensranch.org. The new technology will also allow us to add a few extras that were labor intensive under the old model.
- Question: Is that really our windmill in the graphic? You bet it is.
